A musical genius with a prolific body of work, Prince was a uniquely talented artist whose songs weaved tales of romance and love (with a hefty dose of sexy thrown in for good measure)! Since he passed suddenly a week ago, we’ve been listening to his music, revisiting our favourite songs (old and more recent) and reminiscing about when we first heard “Purple Rain” or “Let’s Go Crazy”.
Surprisingly enough, many of us have memories of dancing madly to both Psongs at wedding receptions throughout the years – in fact, at most weddings we have been to, at least one Prince track is an essential for the party playlist. With that in mind, we started to think about what Prince songs we would include at a wedding – and came up with this list! Let us know what your favourite is!
Essential for a wedding reception and should be played later in the night, when the guests are suitably relaxed and champagned up! Air guitar, anyone??!!
Let’s Go Crazy
From the opening chords to the first words ‘Dearly beloved’, this track is a winner for getting guests on their feet and dancing.
Everyone loves this song – even the older folks, thanks to Tom Jones’ cover version! Can’t help but sing along!
Nothing Compares 2 U
Originally performed by Sinead O’Connor, we prefer his version…..same sentiment, funkier vibe. Good choice for the first dance between husband and wife!
The Most Beautiful Girl in the World
Such a sweet love song. The words are so poetic. Would be fun to see this done as a dance by the groomsmen…..!
Thank you, Prince.
